"The state cabinet today approved the proposal to set up offices of four divisional commissioners in the state to make administration more effective and people-oriented," state revenue minister Brijmohan Agrawal said today after the meeting of state cabinet.
The ordinance will be send to the Governor and after the approval from the Raj Bhawan, the state government will issue notification in this connection, Agrawal added.
The state would now have four divisions with headquarters at Raipur, Bilaspur, Bastar and Sarguja. Earlier, there were three divisions.
Sarguja would be the new division under the new administrative set up.
The previous Ajit Jogi government had abolishing the commissioner system on November 23, 2002 and set up revenue board to deal with the land revenue cases. The board would now stand abolished, Agrawal said.
The state would have to incur additional expenses of Rs 3-4 crore to start the divisional commissioner system, the minister said, adding that the move was aimed to make the administrative more effective and attend the cases related to land revenues at the divisional levels.
With the notification, the four new divisional commissioners would be appointed in the state.
The Raipur commissioner will have six districts while Bastar will have five districts in its jurisdiction. The Bilaspur divisional commissioner will look after four districts and Sarguja commissioner's office will have three districts in its limits.
