The government today said that tax amounting to Rs 248.76 crore is outstanding against the country's largest realty firm DLF as on December 2010.
"As on December 31, 2010, a total sum of Rs 248.76 crore is outstanding in the case of DLF Ltd for various assessment years," Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
The minister was replying to a query whether Income Tax Department has sought Rs 1,180 crore as tax from DLF and its 22 subsidiary companies.
The national capital-based DLF currently has a land bank of about 400 million sq ft of saleable area, of which 56 million sq ft is under construction.
