Expedite power projects: Rosaiah

Chief minister K Rosaiah has directed the state-owned power generator APGenco to expedite the commissioning of Vijayawada Stage IV (500 Mw), Kakatiya Stage I (500 Mw), Rayalaseema (Stage III) and Kothagudem (Stage VI) critical thermal power projects by November end to meet the growing demand for power.

The chief minister, who reviewed the power supply position and construction on Tuesday, also asked the officials to prepare plans for construction and commissioning of 6,700 Mw by 2014. He instructed the officials to come up with an action plan for commissioning and operationalising Vodarevu (1,600 Mw in Phase I and 2,400 Mw in Phase II), Karimnagar gas-based power project (700 Mw), Polavaram, Dummugudem and Kanthanapalli hydel projects (1,400 Mw) and Singareni (600 Mw) units.

He also asked the officials to complete Bhupalpally, Kothagudem, Rayalaseema thermal power stations before December and add 1,210 Mw. All gas stations except Konaseema were generating to full capacity.

Rosaiah, who chaired the second board meeting of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), said Hyderabad would be developed on a par with international cities.

He directed the officials to complete Phase I of the 8-lane 158 km Outer Ring Road project by June this year and Phase-II A by December next year and Phase-II B by July 2012, according to a release.
