The government has approved construction of 14.55 lakh houses for the urban poor under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
"A total of 14.55 lakh houses have been approved for construction under the Sub-Mission Basic Services to the urban poor and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) components of JNNURM," Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja told the Rajya Sabha today.
In reply to another question, she said of the 14.55 lakh houses, 9,810 houses have been approved for construction in Punjab.
