Govt rejects request to block lanes

Government today rejected proposals seeking ban on movement of non-Games vehicles on dedicated CWG lanes for 17 hours in a day and checking of ministers’ vehicles during a meeting with Chef de Missions of Commonwealth countries.

Some Chef de Missions in the meeting – attended by top officials of the Delhi Government, Delhi Police, Organising Committee and Delhi Development Authority – proposed blocking of the dedicated CWG lanes from 6 am to 11 pm for common public, but the government turned down the request stating that it would create inconvenience to public at large, sources said.
