Govt To Set Up Aez For Potatoes In Punjab

The government will give in-principle clearance for setting up a agri-export zone (AEZ) for potatoes in Punjab taking the number of AEZs in the state to two. The zone would be set up in Patiala and the Centre would provide Rs 10.5 crore to the Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (Markfed), said D S Bains, managing director of the federation.

Speaking to Business Standard, he said that the AEZ had to be set up by January 2002.
