Consumer goods not as laggard as perceived
Employment rose in the consumer goods sector in July compared with the previous month, according to HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI).

The data comes as a relief, as PMI for manufacturing fell 50.1 points in July from 50.3 in June. The consumer goods sector saw more new orders and higher buying activity.
