The Planning Commission has constituted an expert group to prepare a strategy for low-carbon economy for India.
The 25-member group, to be headed by Planning Commission member Kirit Parikh, will review the existing studies on low-carbon growth or low carbon roadmap for India prepared by various organisations.
It will conduct further analysis to assess low-carbon options for the Indian economy and present a report outlining the roadmap for low-carbon growth. The group will present an interim report by April-end and a final report by the end of September to the Planning Commission.
Among the members of the group are former United Nations under secretary general (economic and social affairs), Nitin Desai, Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s Ajay Mathur,Ficci secretary general Amit Mitra, CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee and Suzlon Energy chairman Tulsi Tanti.
