Haryana, Rajasthan agree to ply buses on more routes

After 11 years Rajasthan and Haryana Governments today signed an inter-state road transport agreement under which the two states decided to increase the routes to 404 each to introduce new bus services to places of business, religious and tourism interest.   
 
Haryana Roadways would operate on 1, 23,446 kms daily as compared to 62,873 kms per day as per the last agreement signed in 1997.

The Rajasthan Roadways and private buses authorized by it would operate on 1, 33,876 kms as compared to 67,599 kms in the previous agreement, an official spokesman said here today.    

He said that out of the 404 routes Rajasthan Roadways would operate 315 and the rest would be operated by private operators.

Haryana Roadways would operate all its 404 routes as the road transport is state owned in the state.

New destinations of Haryana in Rajasthan include Naukha, Salasar, Pokhran and Khajuwala from different places in the state.    

The decision to ply super deluxe air-conditioned Volvo buses to the main cities of Rajasthan from Delhi was also under consideration of the two states, he said adding that the agreement would be finalised shortly.    

The agreement was signed in Delhi today by Haryana Financial Commissioner Transport Samir Mathur and Principal Secretary, Transport, Rajasthan S N Thanvi, he said that bus as per the new agreement would be  introduced shortly.
