Idco pulls up 7 IT SMEs for not using allotted land

Corporation to issue showcause notices.

The state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa Ltd (Idco) has issued showcause notices to seven IT SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) who have failed to execute their projects despite being allotted land in the Infocity region of the city.

The seven IT firms are Architect Studio, Bhagabati Labs Pvt Ltd, Computer Lab, Eglobe Tech India Pvt Ltd, Enterprises System Solution, Ramtech Software Solution Ltd and SRB Consultancy Pvt Ltd.

These companies were allotted small plots of land ranging from 0.4 to 1 acre by Idco in the Infocity region for putting up their facilities, mainly software development centres, data processing centers and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) units. However, their facilities continues to be in a non-working state.

Architect Studio was allotted 0.49 acre of land in Infocity on July 25, 2007 for setting up a software development and data processing centre. SRB Consultancy Ltd was allotted a 0.7 acre plot on March 2, 2007 for the establishment of a BPO centre.

Idco had allotted land to 20 IT units- large as well as SMEs- in the Infocity area of the city out of which nine are in a working state, seven are non-working while the construction work for the remaining units are underway.

The IT units that are operational are Infosys Technologies Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd (Integrated IT & Telecom project), Aabsys Information Technology Pvt Ltd, H P Micro System Inc, Imgenex India, JSS Consultancy Services Pvt Ltd, Maasys Infotech Pvt Ltd, Spatial Planning and Research Centre Ltd and Tatwa Technologies Ltd.

Apart from allotting land, Idco has also offered built-up space to four firms- Enterprise System Solution, Dellsys, SRB Consultancy Ltd and JSS Consultancy Services Ltd for setting up software development centres and BPO units.
