India and the UK will ink key deals in higher education here tomorrow in a bid to boost bilateral relations.

Five Memorandums of Understanding will be signed in the presence of India's Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and Lord Peter Mandelson, Britain's Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.

It will follow a roundtable conference with 17 vice-chancellors or senior representatives of British Universities, including the famous Cambridge.

The co-operation will include a tie-up with Imperial College, a science-based establishment and the world's 5th ranked university. It is already helping to set up an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Ropar.

India has undertaken an ambition plan to expand the number of universities and the UK, which is known for its post-graduate studies, is actively involved in it.

In the recent past a large number of delegation from British Universities have been visiting India in this connection.
