India Konnects to target SMEs in Gujarat

Targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Gujarat, India Konnects, an online networking portal, is in talks with several chambers of commerce in the state.

The site claims to offer segmented business networking opportunities on its portal and is targeting several industries like diamond, textile, and others in Gujarat.

“Gujarat is an enterprising state and a B2B site like ours will be very popular, especially among SMEs who have a high level of networking need to make their presence felt in the industry and to increase exports. We will be holding talks with several chambers of commerce to grow our base,” Romit Dasgupta, director (technology) of India Konnects.

Equipped already with several other services including built-in video conferencing facility, the company also plans to launch voice over internet protocol (VoIP) operations for its users.

At a time when startups across sectors are trying to make their mark to attract venture capital and private equity funds, Dasgupta said the portal will be beneficial for their growth.

“The success of customer communities has shown that business relationships can be created and developed on the Web. The nature of doing business, especially for entrepreneurs and start-ups will change for the better,” he added.

With an aim to provide more such specialised services and build on its user base, the company will invest around $ 2 million (Rs 8 crore approx.) for its expansion plans in the country. India Konnects is a 50:50 joint venture between the US-based of 50 BHP.

The company have already provided for appropriate meters to record reactive energy usage for consumers of this category upto 10 BHP and above.
