IT behemoth Infosys Technologies, which today came out with its third quarter earnings, is awaiting approval for 219 patent applications in India and the US.
In the latest quarter ending December 31, 2009, the Bangalore-based software exporter applied for 18 patent applications in India and the United States, the company said in its financial statement today.
"With this (after 18 patent applications), Infosys has an aggregate of 219 patent applications (pending) in India and the US and has been granted six patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office," it said.
The NASDAQ-listed information technology firm's Finacle, the newly-launched platform, which empowers banks to deliver products and services through a fully assisted self-service channel, is also awaiting patent approval.
"The patent-pending solution provides banking customers a self-service channel, like the Internet, kiosk and ATM, for real-time access to their bank relationship, such as account inquiries, fund transfers, credit card and mutual fund payments and remittances," Infosys said.
Infosys today posted a 3.6 per cent fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,582 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.
Income from the software services, products and business process management stood at Rs 5,741 crore during the quarter, a marginal decline over Rs 5,786 crore in the year-ago period, as per Indian accounting rules, Infosys said.
