Replicating the facility it created in California in February this year, Ixia, a provider of Internet Protocol (IP) performance test systems has announced the launch of ‘iSimCity’, an advanced IP simulation lab in Bangalore.
The ‘iSimCity’ simulation lab would be capable of stimulating 120,000 subscribers in a single test and reach upto 500,000 subscribers eventually. Network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprises would be able to undertake a proof-of-concept demonstration at scale before committing to purchase test applications and equipment.
Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO, Ixia said the move was aimed at targeting network equipment manufacturers who are expanding their R&D infrastructure in India. “Carriers are slowly moving towa-rds a complete IP platform with which they can offer multiple services. Carriers will need to test for user experi-ence which will drive the growth for IP test equipm-ent,” said Bhatnagar.
The third iSimCity is expected to come up in Europe in the first half of 2009.
The company also announced a partnership with Chennai-based California Software Company (Calsoft), a product engineering and enterprise solutions comp-any. Under the agreement, Ixia and Calsoft will make a joint investment in establishing an Ixia centre of excellence (CoE) in Chennai.
The CoE will be an R&D lab focussed on jointly developing solutions for the global market.
Ixia will provide the latest testing hardware while Calsoft will employ 100 engineers in the next one year for the centre. Calsoft is expected to contribute around $1 million (Rs 4.8 crore) for the centre which would be sourced from internal accruals.
