Jawahar Thakur appointed new Controller General of Accounts

To succeed C R Sundaramurti as the CGA

Jawahar Thakur has taken over as the new Controller General of Accounts with effect from July 1, 2012.

He belongs to the 1979 Indian Civil Accounts Services batch, an official statement said today.

Before taking over this position, Thakur was the principal chief controller of accounts in Central Board of Direct Taxes(CBDT) which is a part of the Department of Revenue in the Ministry of Finance.

He will succeed C R Sundaramurti as the CGA.

Thakur has extensive experience in the areas of public financial management and has worked in diverse capacities in the ministries of Earth Sciences, Commerce, Human Resource Development, Science & Technology, Labour, Health, Home Affairs and Finance.

"He is known for his initiatives in the area of development of an effective financial management information system," the statement said.
