Jharkhand initiates strong action against corruption in police department

In the wake of strong criticism by the opposition parties in and out of the state assembly, the coalition government headed by Arjun Munda has launched strong steps against corruption in the police department.

Munda who also holds the portfolio of home ordered the suspension of two senior police officers of the Jharkhand police service on the charges of corruption.

Superintendent of police (railways) Jamshedpur, Krishna Vijay Singh and deputy superintendent of police (special branch) Mahesh Ram Paswan were suspended The duo were allegedly involved in implicating people in false cases with blackmail and extortion.

The decision on the suspension of the two police officers were taken during the day-long review meeting of the chief minister on internal security on Tuesday

The review meeting was attended by the chief secretary, home secretary, DGP, ADG and the IGs.

All the district SPs participated through video conference.

In the review meting chief minister directed the top brass in the police to build the image of the police force through improved performance.

He also warned that if any police officers neglected in registering FIRs, strong disciplinary action must be taken against them.

Chief minister directed the home secretary J B Tubid to draft a new police act and set up a separate cell for recruitment of officers in the departments of police, jail and excise.
