President APJ Abdul Kalam today scripted the "Mission for Madhya Pradesh's Prosperity". In his 11-pronged mission, Kalam today recommended six exclusive economic zones in Madhya Pradesh.
 
Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of the State Assembly here, Kalam said six exclusive economic zones should be created. Each economic zone can lead to a turnover of Rs 10,000 crore per annum.
 
He said Indore could have zones for pharma, textile, information technology and auto components, Pithampur for Apparel Park and Herbal Park, Bhopal for life science products, Rewa for Herbal Park and Sagar for Granite Park.
 
He asked to Madhya Pradesh government to swing into action by faster the single window clearance for attracting investment instead of a multi ministry organistion, inviting Madhya Pradesh origin industrialists and entrepreneurs who are within the country and abroad for a meeting leading to the decision of taking up the task of building and operating the exclusive economic zone in all three sectors of economy"� agri, service and manufacturing.
 
He also asked the government to provide land, power, and water, physical and electronic connectivity to the identified zones.
 
"Members of the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly irrespective of party affiliations," the president said, "will given an assurance for enacting proactive policies for ensuring uninterrupted work culture in these economic zones. And lastly, he said, the employees have to be partners in these enterprises.
 
The aim of the economic zone should be to qualify the skill sets of the workforce to standards prescribed by the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council.
 
The institutions must coverage and the zone will have design, development, production and marketing capability. One of the zones may be allotted for the development of a science city. Each economic zone can lead to a turnover of Rs 10000 crore per annum.
 
In his eleven-point mission he covered every thing from raising per capita income of the state from Rs 14000 to Rs 50000, improving human development ranking of the state from the present 12 to less than 5, realizing the goal of total literacy before 2012 by giving highest priority to women's education, particularly the tribal population, progressively reducing the number of people living below the poverty line from the existing 40 percent to near zero by 2016.
 
The president laid emphasis on horticulture, agriculture, soyabean, dairy development, education and entrepreneurship, global human resource, healthcare mission, water management, infrastructure development, tourism, exclusive economic zones, e-governance and tribal development.
