Four members of the Planning Commission, including renowned economist Kirit Parikh, may not be included in the new plan panel which is likely to be constituted shortly by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Besides Parikh, Singh sent letters of appreciation to V L Chopra, B Mungekar and Anwarul Hoda indicating that they may not find a place in the reconstituted body.

Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, sources said, is likely to be retained as the deputy chief of the policy-making body.

All the members of the Commission, along with Deputy Chairman Ahlwualia, had submitted their resignations to Singh on completion of the term of the previous government.

The eight full-time members of the outgoing Commission are Kirit Parikh, Abhijit Sen, V L Chopra, B Mungekar, Syeda Hameed, B N Yugandhar, Anwarul Hoda and B K Chaturvedi.

Some of these members are likely to figure in the list of new Commission.
