KPC Medical College and Hospital today launched its low cost surgery programme under which all major surgery was priced at Rs 1000 and the minor ones at Rs 500. | |
| This was bound to impact other private sector clinics which were currently levying much higer charges for surgery or as operation theatre charges. |

| Charges included surgeon's fees, anesthesia and OT charge but excluded the cost of medicine. The hospital did nine surgeries after the scheme was launched today. |

| "Our vision is to try and reach the general people with world class treatment at a lowest possible price," said Sarad Jha, country head, KPC Group. |

| The major surgery facility at Rs 1000 would be available till March 31, 2008, after which the group would review the situation. |
