| UAS vice chancellor S A Patil told reporters here that the 17th mela will focus on the new technologies to be adopted in agriculture in view of changing climatic and economic scenario. New breeds of wheat and groundnut developed by farm scientists would be released during the mela, he added. |
| The agriculture tools' exhibition would showcase the new tools conceived and developed by farmers. |
| Patil said the University of Agricultural Sciences had set up a state-of-the-art organic farming laboratory for developing pest resistant seeds. |
| He informed that another laboratory at a cost of Rs 3.6 crore would be set up by the varsity for protecting fruits, vegetables and food grains from pest and insects, in a bid to encourage their export. |
| The four-day Krishi Mela would feature exhibition of horticulture products, flowers and dog show, discussion by experts on latest techniques of farming and interaction with farmers. More than 1.5 lakh farmers are expected to visit. |
