If you are an entrepreneur and share a horrible experience of interacting with state government employees at the headquarters of Writers' Buildings, with many others, then there is some good news for you.

Next time you visit Writers, the experience, perhaps things would be bit different and for the better.

The state industry department has decided to impart special training to its lower and middle level employees on attitude building and customer relationship management (CRM).

These terms were commonly identified with the hospitality industry.

State Productivity Council (SPC) would train the employees of the state industry directorate and then do a programme on attitude building for the employees of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC).

The deputy director of the state industry department, Robin Roy, said the rationale behind this training programme is to make the employees of the department more investor friendly.

"Behaviours and attitude of middle level employees whom the investors interact first, is of immense importance. If they have a bad experience then they might not come back. We want to have a new beginning where investors will be treated as a customers and will be dealt likewise. The world is changing so we too have to change ourselves," he said.

According to Roy, the training would be conducted for all the middle and lower level employees of the department.

"SPC has already started training program for the first batch of 34 people," he said.

The deputy director of SPC, S R Das, said lower division assistants, upper division assistants, investigators and head assistants were participating in the first batch.

"We are getting a very good response from the participants. They are asking lot of things about attitude building and relationship management," he said.

According to Das, the program includes topics like work motivation, interpersonal skill, attitude and team building, conflict and conflict management, communication and developing communication skills.

"We are also telling them about stress and relaxation for effective job performance," he said.
