Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, allegedly involved in Rs 2000 crore money laundering scam and arrested in disproportionate assets case, has been shifted to a private hospital here from the Birsa Munda Central Jail for treatment.
Koda has been admitted to Abdur Razzak Memorial Weavers' Hospital, an Apollo Group Hospital, last night with complications of urinary tract infection, P D Sinha, Director of Apollo told PTI today.
The urologists will decide when to remove the ureteral stent that was inserted into his (Koda's) kidney three months ago, Sinha said.
His stay in the hospital will depend on his medical condition and advice of the attending doctors, he added.
Security has been beefed up at the hospital and armed police jawans posted outside the hospital in view of Koda's admission.
Koda was arrested on November 30 from Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district by the Vigilance Bureau in disproportionate assets case after he defied the Bureau's summons to present himself on November 27.
After his arrest Koda was shifted to the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences here on December 9 after he complained of stomach pain. After a week's stay in the hospital, he was shifted back to jail.
