Malaysia is keen on setting up collaborative projects in the biotech sector, especially in the production of drugs.

Malaysian deputy prime minister Mohammed Najib Tun Abdul Razak, leading a high power delegation on a business mission to India, told reporters here on Saturday that he is impressed with India's strides in the biotech sector.

"We wish to facilitate our private sector companies to set up collaborative projects with their Indian counterparts in the biotech sector, especially in the production of drugs," he added.

Razak, who visited the PSU major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) facility at Nashik, said Malaysia was keen on entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with the HAL for various business initiatives, including maintenance and supply of spares to the Russian-made Sukhoi fighter aircraft.

"Also, we will request India to train our air force pilots to fly the Sukhoi fighter planes," he added.
