Raj Bhavan sources said that Banerjee would meet the Governor at 6.30 pm.

Armed with a massive majority and inflicting a crushing defeat on the ruling Left Front, Trinamool Congress is all set to form the next government in the state.

Earlier, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee stepped down as chief minister and submitted resignation of his council of ministers to the Governor.
