MMRDA will implement these two projects on cash transfer basis. They will be soon placed before the State Cabinet for government approval.
The proposed two metro rail line projects are part of the MMRDA's plan develop a Metro Rail network of 172 kilometers in Mumbai and its metropolitan region. At present, 11.4 km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro rail line is operational.
MMRDA has initiated development of the Dahisar and Mankhurd via Charkop and Bandra metro line and the Wadala and Kasarvadavali through Ghatkopar and Thane metro line with a total investment of Rs 45,000 crore. Besides, the it has launched the development of Dahisar East-Charkop-DN Nagar metro line with investment of Rs 6,410 crore and Dahisar East-Andheri East metro line costing Rs 6,208 crore.
Further, MMRDA has also begun development Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ metro line with an investment of Rs 23,136 crore.
