Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Thursday sought to put at rest speculations about rift between the Commission and Nandan Nilekani-led Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), saying the Authority enjoys his full backing. He said all issues related to work overlap between UIDAI and Registrar General of India (RGI) would be settled soon.

Ahluwalia said he was in favour in granting more autonomy to the UIDAI and a Cabinet note would be soon prepared on the issue as well as the second phase of granting of unique identification cards to every Indian.
