The awareness drive to be conducted across 27 districts of Odisha, is aimed at making people at grassroots level aware of the latest schemes launched by Government of India on financial inclusion and social security.
The awareness would centre on schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Bima Suraksha Yojana (PMBSY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJJY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
"We are going to conduct the awareness in collaboration with NGOs. The NGOs would mobilise people from their respective areas. All commercial banks and regional rural banks (RRBs) would participate in the awareness programmes. Besides awareness, enrolments will also be done under the schemes like PMJDY", said S K Kale, chief general manager (Odisha), Nabard.
The three districts- Sonepur, Jharsuguda and Boudh left out of the awareness drive would be covered subsequently, he said.
"This year, Nabard has targeted to spend Rs five crore on awareness programmes on financial inclusion. We have already conducted 3000 village level programmes, 551 programmes at block level and 121 at district level. Nabard has also supported 105 financial literacy centres which includes 94 of cooperative banks and the remaining by RRBs", Kale said.
