Naidu to woo Foxconn and Xiaomi to set up units in AP

On Sunday, he'll be leaving on a five-day tour to China

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will meet the executives from iPhone maker Foxconn and Chinese low-cost smart phone manufacturer Xiaomi during his 5-day visit to China, beginning April 12, and invite them to set up shop in the proposed electronic clusters in the sate.

Earlier this week the state government had increased various financial incentives for the electronic manufacturing industry in a bid to promote four Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) proposed in four different locations, including Visakhapatnam.

The chief minister would also tour Huawei's R&D center to have have a first-hand feel of what was going on in the electronics and communications field, according to the chief minister's office. He would also meet the executives from Siemens, Sinoma International Engineering among other companies during his visit, it said.

Apart from meeting with the representatives of various industry bodies such as China National Textile and Apparel Council and China Association for Small and Medium Enterprises Naidu would also meet the officials of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, Central Committee, according to a statement issued by the chief minister's office.

Visit to places like Chengdu to have a tour of Peking University, Shanghai's Yangshan deep water port, and round-table meetings in Beijing and other places for interacting with local investors were also planned during his China tour.
