Narmada Dam height to be raised to 110 m

| It is expected that raising the height of the dam will help in generating 250 MW electricity from the canal head power house and 200 MW from river bed power house. Besides generating electricity, the increased height of the dam will facilitate irrigation for an area over five lakh hectres. |
| The ruling BJP in the state is now all set to capatilise on these development and will use it as an electoral issue in the April 20 general election. |
| Addressing a media briefing, chief minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday evening allowing to increase the height of the dam, the Narmada Control Authority has met the long-standing demand by Gujarat. |
| Modi said that state will not waste any time in completing the construction. "In fact the government has already begun work of increasing the height by 10 metres. |
| "Once this construction is over both power houses of the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) will become operational," he added. |
