Addressing his maiden press conference in Chandigarh, the newly elected Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, Zubin Irani said the big agenda for the next government should be targeted towards reviving the business confidence, longevity and timely implementation.

Irani said the new government should focus on enactment of policies, fast-tracking of stalled infrastructure as well as manufacturing projects, removal of various procedural and other bottlenecks associated with key industrial and freight corridors will provide the much needed fillip to growth in the North.

"CII has interacted with all political parties across the Centre and states and shared its inputs for inclusion in their manifestos. The mission statement is to 'empower all Indians to build an inclusive, developed and secured nation," he said with a focus on healthcare, education, skill development, sustainability, innovation, creativity, R&D and innovation", he said.

"The investment rate at around 31 per cent still remains sufficient, which is good enough for growth of seven-eight per cent. One requires is to enhance efficiency and productivity level in order to enhance incremental capital output ratio. For this, CII advocates for debottlenecking of the regulatory environment, essential to fast track held projects, both in infrastructure and manufacturing, technology upgradation, robust infrastructure and latest mechanisms and processes to get maximum returns on investments", he further added.
