"227 inspections have already been carried out to check hoarding of pulses at millers, wholesalers, retailers or any other suspected place in the state during last week where no stock of pulses found beyond stock limit fixed by the government," said an official spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies department said today.
Instructions have already been issued to all Deputy Commissioners and District Food and Supplies Controllers to conduct surprise checking of the manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers of pulses, he said.
He said the state government has already fixed the maximum stock limit for all types of pulses to control the increasing prices of pulses and to put a check on hoarding.
As per the revised stock limit, the manufacturers can stock 1/24th of annual grinding capacity for raw material and 1/48th of annual grinding capacity for finished material.
Similarly, the limit of dealers including wholesalers, distributing agents and selling agents has been reduced to 250 quintals and of retailers to 25 quintals, he said.
In addition to regular surprise inspections to check hoarding of pulses, the state government has also directed the Managing Director, HAFED to procure pulses from the market and sell it through its various sale outlets to check rising prices.
