Even as the IPL faces intense scrutiny over its functioning, a member of the Lok Sabha today raised questions over the tournament's timings, saying it affects students during exam season.
S K Shetkar (Congress) asked the government to ensure that IPL tournament is not held during April and May when students have to appear for exams and said Speaker Meira Kumar should intervene if it is not done.
"The timing of IPL is not good," Shetkar said raising the issue during Zero Hour. He said the timing of the IPL coincides with exams and students' attention gets deflected affecting their studies.
"It completely damages the lives of students," he said. Questions over timing of the IPL came at a time when the 20-20 tournament is already facing intense scrutiny over its functioning.
