NTPC project bags award

The National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC)'s 1000-megawatt Simhadri Power Project at Visakhapatnam has bagged the Indira Priyadarshini Vrikha Mitra Award in the category of corporate sector for the year 2003.

The award is instituted by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests. The project enjoys 570 acres of forest cover with more than 5 lakh trees, a press release said.

Recently, bio-diesel plantation has also been taken up on mass scale around the thermal project, it added.
