Onion purchase continues

| The state government had earlier instructed the district administration to stop the purchase of 'A' grade onion following complaints that inferior quality onion was being passed off as "A' grade stuff. |
| However, the procurement continued at three purchase centres in Morab and Annigeri in Navalgund taluks and Amargol between Hubli-Dharwad. |
| Meanwhile on Tuesday evening, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy instructed the authorities to continue the purchase. |
| Dharwad DC M S Srikar said that so far over three lakh tonnes of onion (of which 90 per cent are of the 'A' grade) had been procured in the district under the MSP scheme. The state government has released another Rs 5 crore for the purchase of onions. |
| The minimum support price has been fixed at Rs 500, Rs 375 and Rs 250 for A, B and C grade onions respectively. |
