In an attempt to create a brand recall for itself, jewellery major P C Chandra, has announced 'prothoma' talent-hunt contest.
 
"This is a social initiative by P C Chandra Jewellers to recognise women achievers on the basis of their intelligence as opposed to exterior beauty. This year's 'Prothoma' will be a woman who manages both family and career efficiently," said Amitava Chandra, director, P C Chandra.
 
The jewellers are expecting more than 1000 applications of which 200 would be screened from each city - Medinipur, Durgapur, Berhampur, Barasaat and Kolkata - on the basis of an essay where applicants would have to debate why she feels she should win the award.
 
Participants would also have to qualify in the in several practical tests like extempore speech, etc.
 
The winner would receive a gift voucher of Rs 1 lakh which could be encashed at any P C Chandra Jewellers outlets. The 1st and 2nd runners up would receive Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
 
The finals are supposed to be held around May 4 this year.
