Both Houses of Parliament saw two adjournments during the pre-lunch sitting today with the opposition closing ranks to protest price rise and TDP objecting to creation of separate Telangana.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, members from BJP, Left, SP, BSP and Shiv Sena trooped into the Well raising slogans against rise in prices of essential commodities.

In the din, TDP members raised slogans against creation of Telangana and demanded a unified Andhra Pradesh, even as their floor leader Nama Nageswara Rao was not present.

As members did not relent, the House was adjourned for 30 minutes.

Similar scenes were witnessed when the House reassembled.

The TDP members displayed placards saying "we want united AP" while some members from the treasury benches held "Jai Telengana" placards.

As the din continued, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House for the second time till 1200 noon.

In the Rajya Sabha, Opposition members were on their feet even before Chairman Hamid Ansari could settle in his seat when the House met for the day.

Some TDP members trooped into the Well demanding a statement on Telangana but were countered by Congress. Main Opposition BJP, Left and SP raised slogans against price rise.

After five minutes of pandemonium, the House was adjourned for 30 minutes.

When it reassembled, the entire Opposition resumed their protest on the two issues, leading to the adjournment of the House till 1200 noon.
