NCP chief Sharad Pawar praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for leading the country to the path of industrial and agricultural growth at a time of recession.
Addressing a rally in suburban Mulund last night in support of party nominee Sanjay Patil, from Mumbai North East constituency, Pawar gave credit to the UPA for the industrial and agricultural growth in the country.
On the global economic downturn, he said that though a developed country like USA was badly affected by the slowdown, Singh's vast experience as an economist had helped to reduce the impact of the recession on India.
Criticising the BJP, Pawar said the saffron alliance rakes up the Ram Mandir issue only at election time. "Why didn't BJP build the temple during its tenure of six years?" asked Pawar, adding "BJP remembers Lord Ram only during elections and sends him on "vanvas" (exile) after that."
