Protests disrupt Central Rail services

| Hundreds of passengers during peak office hours pelted stones on local trains at Thane station as they had difficulty in boarding them due to overcrowding, sources said. |
| Both up and down trains on the section were halted till 11.30 am. As the city police and the government railway police tried to disburse the crowd, the sources said. |
| The services were resumed on the section at 12 noon, they added. |
| Meanwhile, seven long distance trains resumed services from Thursday on Central Railway section while five south-bound trains have resumed their journey via Pune. |
| Two north-bound trains also resumed services through Virar-Vasai route on Western Railway. |
| However, trains on the Harbour and Western lines were running as per schedule. |
| On Wednesday, train services on Central Railway section were disrupted as over 2,000 people stopped trains at Mumbra, two stations after Thane, for over five hours for 'delay' in frequency of trains. |
