Rajkot to have heritage tours soon

Soon Rajkot district will have heritage tours as part of the tourism development programme. These tours, one in the city and two other in other parts of the district will be developed under public private partnership (PPP) model.

“We had done two meetings with local hoteliers and tour operators to start heritage tour in Rajkot. We are preparing detail report on it”, said Rajendra Kumar, district collector, Rajkot.

He said that they plan to start three heritage tours, one for city and two for district. “Government will not invest or not provide any kind of financial support in this project. We will just act as administrator of the tour. Whatever income will generate through the tour will go to the organizers," said Kumar.

For district heritage tour the district administration has identified places like Khamhalida caves, Minal vav of Virpur, Gondal Palace, Sardhar Palace, Kasturba Dham in Tramba village and Ghela Somnath temple near Jasdan. These are the places of historical importance.
