Executives of the Hyderabad-based Ramsharan Sanghi-promoted Sanghi Group are expected to discuss tomorrow with MP government representatives the projects in the state. The firm has proposed to set up a cement plant and a thermal power plant with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore in the state.

Officials had earlier talked to MP Industry Minister Babulal Gaur and senior officials of the department of industry during Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas in Hyderabad last month. Gaur has been facing flak for his investment promises made when he was chief minister. The allotment of land to the company is an issue that he has to sort out.

Although industry department officials and the state industrial development corporation are silent on the project, a source told Business Standard, "The Sanghi group is looking at setting up a 1,000 Mw power plant and a cement plant of 3 million tonnes in the state. However, there are no coal mines to allot to the firm. Nor does the state have 2,000 acres for the cement plant and 1,000 acres of land for the power plant. Further, the firm is learnt to have demanded exemption in sales tax and support on environment clearance.
