Shah commission to visit state on Oct 3

A six-member team of the M B Shah Commission appointed by Government of India to probe illegal mining in states is set to visit Odisha again on October 3. ”The investigation team would consist of officials from forest, mining and vigilance departments of Gujarat and Karnataka. The team will be here till October 11 and visit the various mining sites of the state,” said a top official of the state steel and mines department. The commission had sought relevant information from the mining, forest and revenue departments as well as commercial tax directorate under finance department on areas like digitisation of mine lease boundaries and cases of violations.
