The Orissa government has banned the registration of Bhoodan land throughout the state in a bid to prevent the land mafias to lay their hand on these properties in a fraudulent manner.
The state revenue and disaster management department has asked the sub-registrars to ensure the compliance of the instruction. The latest directive of the state government assumes importance as large scale forged pattas and un-authorised occupation of the land given to the Bhoodan Yajna Samities have been reported from different parts of the state.
Meanwhile, the state government has asked the Revenue Divisional Commissioner, central division, to enquire into the issue of forged pattas and un-authorised occupations on about 100 acres of Jagannath Temple land donated by Puri Gajapati to BJS in village Nijigarh under Pipli tehsil near the campus of Orissa Engineering College (OEC).
