The Orissa High Court today directed the Orissa government to communicate its decision on the application of the public sector Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) seeking grant of Prospecting License (PL) for Khandadhar mines in Sundergarh district.
The state government will have to communicate its decision to KIOCL by 6 April 2009, so that the applicant can seek legal course against the decision if any, the court said. Earlier, the court had stayed the grant of the PL for Khandadhar mines by the Union government.
The stay was given on a petition moved by the KIOCL in the Orissa High Court against the Orissa government’s recommendations of PL in favour of Posco. The government sources said, as per the order of the High Court, the state government will issue rejection letter to KIOCL.
