Dharwad-based non-government organisations, National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources and Jana Sangrama Parishad (JSP), are planning to launch a statewide campaign from September 15 demanding that the state government implement the second Lokayukta report on illegal mining in Karnataka in letter and spirit.
“The 15-day campaign which will first commence in 10 districts will focus on implementing the second report on illegal mining submitted by former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde in letter and spirit by the state government,” NCPNR convener S R Hiremath told reporters today.
“We are planning to launch the agitation on the lines of the one undertaken by Anna Hazaare against the corruption. Our aim is to spread awareness on illegal mining,” Raghavendra Kushtagi of JSP said.
The protest rallies will be held in Raichur, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mysore, Davanagere, Bellary and Koppala districts where JSP has a strong base, he said.
