Film star and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Mohanbabu launched a peoples movement to fight political corruption yesterday.
The Rajya Sabha member, whose relations with his one-time comrade-in-arms and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has soured, told reporters that a national convention will be held here next month to chalk out an action plan. Mohanbabu, who was admonished by the party last month for allegedly assaulting a party colleague in Tirupati and subsequently taking potshots at the leadership, said that he continued to be a loyal TDP worker.
Though there were corrupt and unscrupulous power brokers in the party.
He said that the anti-corruption movement should not be viewed as a fight against the Chief Minister, though he made a veiled attack on the leadership for various acts of omission and commission, and growing bickerings among the cadre.
