The Telangana government is contemplating a policy on incubation, even as it is in the process of drafting guidelines for app developers, according to state IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
"The state government is creating a citizen-engaging portal, which is mandated by the Smart City plan and guidelines. M-governance is also the priority for us in the government, and all kiosk-based citizen services will be converted into mobile platform shortly," he told a 4,000-odd gathering at the AugustFest startup conference.
Stating that apps comprise 70% of regional innovations, Ranjan said the state government would be procuring goods and services from startups to encourage them.
Technology Hub (T-Hub), the Telangana government's startup incubation initiative with a 1,000-seat capacity on 8,000-sft space, will be inaugurated by Ratan Tata on September 7.
Ranjan said Phase-II of T-Hub, which will have 300,000-sft area with a 4,000-seating capacity, would be ready by the time when the World IT Congress would be held in Hyderabad in 2018.
The two-day AugustFest, which saw the participation of over 200 startups and around 300 investors and investment companies from across India, Southeast Asia, Europe and the US, concluded on Sunday.
