The plan for such a corporation would help the state government extract maximum advantage in terms of market funding besides ensuring increased private sector partnership for establishing crucial road linkages within the city and the surrounding districts with their headquarters.
“We have still not finalised on whether it should be a corporation, a board or a company. Over the next few weeks, we would however finalise the plan. We are very keen on it as the entire Rs 10,000-crore funding for crucial road projects would not come from the budgeted provisions,” said Ajay Mishra, special chief secretary, who also holds additional charge for transport, roads and buildings.
Under the plan, the government would soon finalise plans for three elevated city expressways--expanding the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, new ones along the Narsapur crossroads and from the busy Paradise junction, that would run along the Rajiv Rahadari stretching up to Uppal. These projects would be executed in no less than three years, the official said.
Indicating the state government’s intent to add infra impetus to achieve development in the neighbouring districts, he said, as part of Phase-I works under the earmarked Rs 10,000-crore funding, ring road works would be taken up in the district headquarters of Nizamabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam, besides Gajwel in Medak district, at an estimated Rs 1,500 crore.
On the private sector partnership in these projects, he said, “We would definitely rope in the private sector wherever there is enough scope for generating returns.”
