Atal Bihari Vajpayee said the BJP has chosen the ministers keeping in view worthiness and truthfulness. He said that he is fully satisfied with the ministry and the fifty-fifty break-up.

Mayawati said capability and loyalty to the party were the criteria for choosing ministers.

The portfolios which have been allotted to Lalji Tondon and Kalraj Misra will be allotted to the BJP ministers and those with Mayawati to the BSP ministers. This, it appears, was chalked out much earlier and the distribution of these will depend on the respective parties, rather then on the Chief Minister.

Kanshi Ram, in answer to a question, said that the transfer and postings are a prerogative of the Chief Minister and there should not be any infringement of that. Otherwise it will not be possible to run the day to day administration. Law and order should also be maintained by the Chief Minister. Asked about the possibility of national co-ordination between the BJP and the BSP, Kanshi Ram said that BJP is a Manuwadi party and the BSP is a Maanawatavadi party. Even then we are trying to to work together. Then he said vaguely, at the moment there is no national coordination. We shall see later.
