Thirty four grid stations to come up in J&K

Thirty four grid stations with a capacity of 3,250 MVA are under construction in Jammu and Kashmir under the first phase of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Viduytikaran Yojna (RGGVY).   
  
An amount of Rs 418 crore have been sanctioned by the Centre for improvement of power transmission system in the state, an official spokesman said today.     

Under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction programme, 29 power development schemes at a cost of Rs 739.58 crore are currently in progress in the Kashmir valley aimed at improvement, upgradation and modernisation of transmission system, the spokesman said.     

He said scores of grid stations, receiving stations and sub-stations are being constructed under the programme besides installation of transformers, erection of electric poles and transmission lines.    

An amount of over Rs 130.23 crore has been spent on these schemes so far and 16,000 transformers installed, he said.
