The Tamil Nadu government will set up swine flu test centres in major towns of the state. The move comes after a four-year-old boy died in Chennai due to the flu on Monday.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi here today. The new centres will come up at Madurai, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli. At present, such centres are present only in Chennai and Vellore.
So far, 54 people have been diagnosed, of which 40 have recovered after the treatment and the remaining 14 are undergoing treatment at various government hospitals in the state. All the government hospitals are equipped to cater to the patients, according to an official release here.
